With your ticket, you can access to the palace, grounds, and outbuildings from the time on your booking throughout the day. We recommend buying your ticket online in advance, as places are limited.

Opening Hours

Monday–Sunday, 10am–5pm (last entrance, 4pm)

Valdemars Slot palace and grounds is open daily during the exhibition season, excepting Saturday 13 June for The 3 Bridges 2026 Marathon. After the close of Season Two on 19 September, the palace and grounds close for the winter.

Visitors usually spend between 2–3 hours at Valdemars Slot, so make sure you have plenty of time to explore.

Location

Drive direct to Valdemars Slot and leave your car in our public car park, beside the ticket office and entrance. 

Take the train to Svendborg rail station. A bus (No. 250), which runs every 30 minutes will take you to Troense, a 10-minute walk from VS.

Sail with the vintage ship M/S Helge and experience the landscape of Funen from the ocean. Disembark at the palace jetty, or take a detour and stop in Troense or hop off for a walk in the forest.

Valdemars Slot offers access to the beach through the grounds, and visitors can explore footpaths, running along the coast and through the forests.

 

Café

Ticket-holders can visit the café at Valdemars Slot throughout the season, May – September. Situated inside the entrance with both indoor and outdoor seating, the café serves a range of locally-sourced delicious drinks and light lunches, cakes and snacks. 

You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat on the grass, or on one of our benches. For larger groups who would like to meet inside, we offer access to our restaurant on a first come first served basis. Contact info@valdemarsslot.dk to reserve the space for your group.

FAQs

  • As visitors are limited in the palace, we recommend buying your ticket online in advance, to avoid disappointment.

  • Although cash is accepted, we prefer payment by card. Unfortunately we cannot accept foreign currency.

  • Your furry friends are very welcome in the palace grounds. To preserve the artworks, we do not allow dogs, except guide dogs, inside the exhibition spaces.

  • You are welcome to bring a handbag or small laptop bag. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate larger bags and backpacks, suitcases, or prams inside the palace.

  • You are very welcome to take photos and videos for non-commercial use. Tag us on social media @valdemarsslot

  • Entrance to the palace is via a staircase. As VS is a listed building, it has unfortunately not been possible to provide wheelchair access this year. We are working to resolve this for the future.

  • We do not currently provide public Wi-Fi. There is a reliable 4G connection.

  • Unfortunately there are no charging points for electric cars at Valdemars Slot.
